Imelda O’Neill, Head of Commercial Banking Support, Royal Bank of Scotland Crowned Winner of the Women in the City Future Leaders Award 2013

Today, Imelda O’Neill, Head of Commercial Banking Support, Royal Bank of Scotland, said she was “delighted” to be the 2013 recipient of the Women in the City Future Leaders Award at a celebratory breakfast ceremony at Trinity House London.
The award, sponsored by ICAEW and global HR specialists Penna , with Cranfield School of Management sponsoring the academic prize, acknowledges the achievements to date and the leadership potential of fast-track women in the early stages of their management career.
The winner of the prestigious annual accolade for talented business women talked about the importance of recognition. Imelda O’Neill, Head of Commercial Banking Support, Royal Bank of Scotland, said; “I am delighted to receive this award which recognises and promotes female talent within the City. Awards like this are hugely important as they encourage women to strive to reach their career potential and become strong and credible leaders.
“I’m looking forward to attending the Cranfield University Women as Leaders programme, and sharing my learning with my colleagues. I would also like to thank Women in the City, Penna and ICAEW for this fantastic opportunity”.

Imelda was one of just five finalists and all entrants required to demonstrate leadership potential as well as an exceptional range of skills. In selecting the overall winner the judges were looking for the Finalist who had reached the point at which the academic prize will have the most impact. As winner, Imelda will receive a complimentary place on the renowned Cranfield Women as Leaders Programme. The Programme blends research and experience to deliver practical learning about leadership and making it to the top.

The other candidates shortlisted for the award were Alexandra Considine, Mobile Services Product Manager, Xchanging; Karen Hogg, Managing Director AXA Commercial and Personal Intermediary; Zarina Sabir, Group Chief Accountant, easyJet PLC; and Laura-Jane Smith, Clinical Teaching Fellow, UCL Medical School.
